American Occupational Therapy Association

The American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) is the nationally recognized professional association of approximately 35,000 occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, and students of occupational therapy.

Americans with Disabilities Act

This website explains the ADA and offers a list of publications about the Americans with Disabilities Act. It also has information on enforcing the ADA.

Bicycle Helmet Safety Instructions

Site of the helmet advocacy program of the Washington Area Bicyclist Association. An active, non-profit consumer-funded program acting as a clearinghouse and a technical resource for bicycle helmet information.

Brain Injury Association of America

The Brain Injury Association of America was founded in 1980 by a group of individuals who wanted to improve the quality of life for their family members who had sustained brain injuries. Despite phenomenal growth over the past two decades, the Association remains committed to its grassroots. The Brain Injury Association of America encompasses a national network of more than 40 chartered state affiliates across the country, as well as hundreds of local chapters and support groups.

The Brain Injury Association of Ohio (BIAOH) was established to address the problems faced by individuals with brain injury and their families. BIAOH also supports the professional community, advocates and supporters.

Traumatic Brain Injury information is available under the disabilities section and contains fact sheets covering statistics and prevention, number of injuries per state per year, causes, outcomes, and risk groups.

Community Health Center of Akron Ohio

In 2004 Ballinger TBI Clubhouse teamed up with Community Health Center to find a space for a Clubhouse location in Akron, Ohio. Recognizing that many people with TBI live at Summit Terrace (a housing program of the Community Health Center), the Community Health Center has donated a large community room that is dedicated to direct support of TBI individuals to enable them to experience decreased isolation and increased personal growth.

Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center

Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC) is a medical care, clinical research and education center. Established in 1992 as the Defense and Veterans Head Injury Program (DVHIP), the clinical research conducted by DVBIC has come to define optimal care for survivors of TBI.

Family Caregiver Alliance

Founded in 1977, Family Caregiver Alliance was the first community-based nonprofit organization in the country to address the needs of families and friends providing long-term care at home. FCA now offers programs at national, state and local levels to support and sustain caregivers.

Ohio Valley Center for Brain Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation

This website conducts research, provides education and develops programs to improve the quality of life of persons who experience traumatic brain injury.

The Rehabilitation Research Center (RRC) for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) conducts research to better understand and improve outcomes after TBI and SCI. Traumatic Brain Injury Model System

The New York Traumatic Brain Injury Model System provides a comprehensive program of health care to meet the diverse needs of persons who have experienced a traumatic brain injury (TBI). The NY TBI Model System – coordinated by the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Mount Sinai Medical – is one of 16 in the and the only one in the New York metropolitan area. The current funding of the NY TBI Model System began in late 2002.
